Confederate Rebel Vice President Alexander Stephens printed testimony from the January 1861 Georgia special convention to decide on secession from the United States. Reads in part: "…this step (of secession) once taken, can never be recalled, and all the baneful and withering consequences that must follow, will rest on the convention for all coming time…" Document measures 11.75" x 18.25" with folds, foxing and toning throughout and minor chips along top. Very good condition.
