Awarded to Frank Wisbar, German Director of the Fireside Theatre for ''Outstanding Contributions To Creative Television Technique,'' Beautiful trophy is in the form of a timepiece. The prestigious yet short-lived Sylvania Television awards were sponsored by television set manufacturer Sylvania Electric Products from 1951-1959. When the company merged with GT&E, the annual awards ceremony was cancelled and quickly supplanted by the Emmy Awards. Clock face is made of fragile glass dotted with etched stars in gilt placed at each hour. Hands are stylized lightning bolts made of metal. Figural base features walnut wood behind a sculpture in high relief of a robed woman supporting the clock across her shoulders. A small metal plaque affixed to verso identifies the maker as Medallic Art Co. of New York and engraving to the motor housing credits Jefferson Electric Company of Bellwood, Illinois with the clock's manufacture. Measures 13.75'' in height, 9.25'' across and 5'' deep. Attached electric cord. Clock still functions, though slow.
