French General Philippe Guillaume de Deux-Ponts letter signed, dated 26 October 1783. French letter informs a Marshall "…of the imposed sentence by the War Council on Michel Herver, a Corporal of the grenadiers, condemned to the galleys for life…" Signed "Comte de Deux-Ponts". Deux-Ponts is best known for his "Royal Deux-Ponts" corps in the American Revolutionary War, and his heroic assault of Redoubt 9 also during the war. Document measures 7.25" x 9". Light uniform toning, else near fine.
