French Vice Admiral and astronomer Joseph Bernard de Chabert autograph letter signed to naval minister Jean Claude Redon de Beaupréau, dated 29 August 1791. Chabert writes in French, "…I have sent maps, plans and journals to the depot in Bretagne, leaving Paris on the 18th of the month, two boxes addressed to you…" Chabert was instrumental in correcting the naval charts of America's Pacific coast and the coasts of the Mediterranean. Letter measures 6" x 7.75". Light uniform toning, else near fine condition.
