William Taft typed letter signed on personal stationery, dated 2 January 1920, from New Haven, Connecticut, where he was teaching law at Yale. He sends new year wishes to friend and philanthropist Edward Bok. Taft also references General Jan Smuts, then South African Prime Minister. The letter reads in part, ''...I reciprocate your good wishes for 1920. I sincerely hope that it will prove to be more satisfactory than 1919...Sincerely yours...Wm H Taft''. Single page letter measures 8'' x 10.25''. Very good.
