Upon White House stationery, Mrs. Nixon writes to Mrs. McNamara, wife of Vietnam-era Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, dating her letter 15 December 1971. At this point Robert McNamara was President of the World Bank. Letter reads in part, ''...We do indeed share a concerned interest in eliminating illiteracy and the conviction that reading is absolutely essential to every child's future success and happiness. Your own admirable efforts toward this goal are most impressive...[signed] Pat Nixon''. Accompanied by White House mailing envelope. 1pp. measures 6.25'' x 9.25''. Creasing, else fine.
