Original bound eulogy written by President John Quincy Adams for the memorial service of President James Madison, dated 27 September 1836. Printed by American Stationers' Company: Boston: 1836. Madison appointed Adams as the first ever United States Minister to Russia in 1809. Title page reads: ''An Eulogy on the Life and Character of James Madison, Fourth President of the United States; Delivered at the Request of Mayor, Alderman, and Common Council of the City of Boston...'' A printed slip reading ''J.Q. Adams / Boston / Massachusetts'' is affixed to p.2 of booklet. Eulogy runs 90pp. and is bound in green paper boards measuring 6'' x 9.5''. Wear, chipping and separation of front board starting. Overall very good.
