Richard Howe autograph letter signed ''Howe''. Howe was a British naval officer during the American Revolution, and in this letter he writes from Portsmouth to an unnamed recipient shortly before he sailed for America, apologizing for the ''shortness of my stay here.'' 1pp. measuring 7.5'' x 9.25'' and dated 8 May 1776. Uneven left edge, discoloring to top right corner, else near fine.
