Dr. Seuss signed early edition of ''Horton Hatches the Egg.'' Random House: New York: 1940. Signed on the frontis in blue ink with inscription reading ''for the Brownell Family / Best Wishes / Dr. Seuss''. Book features the elephant Horton, who later appeared in the 1954 ''Horton Hears A Who!'' Bound in tan cloth boards, book measures 8.5'' x 10.5''. Child's crayon and pencil drawings appear throughout, hinge is loose, but all pages are intact. Fair condition.
