Telegraph inventor Samuel Morse autograph letter signed. Morse writes to H.T. Tuckerman, likely the Massachusetts author Henry Theodore Tuckerman. Datelined New York, 29 July 1845, letter reads in part, ''My dear Sir, Yours of the 24th inst. has just been received having been forwarded to me from Washington. I am at this moment confined to the house by an accident by which I received a slight hurt in my leg which may detain me in the city a day longer. I was on my way Westward to inspect the Telegraphic Stations, and must leave so soon as it is prudent...Sam'l F.B. Morse''. Single-page letter measures 8'' x 9.5''. Mounted and framed beside an image of Morse to an overall size of 25'' x 20''. Toning and very minor staining, else near fine.
