Stanley Kubrick typed letter signed, dated 11 February 1967. Letter is addressed to New York University physicist and friend of the director, Jeremy Bernstein. Bernstein wrote a famous profile of Kubrick as he was making ''2001: A Space Odyssey'' and the two remained friends. Reads in full: ''I'm awfully sorry about the NYU thing. Although your letters still have the customary lilt I can imagine what a rotten pain in the ass it has been. Things like this make you realize how pleasant physical violence must be as a short cut to problem-solving. Someday they'll write about how NYU lost Bernstein who first discovered that Good's Law was in fact correct. Anyway, I haven't heard from Lederman. Which 'delicious but elusive' girl? All goes well...'' Signed ''Stanley'' in black ink. Letter on one page measures 8'' x 10''. Minor toning and tape residue to verso, else near fine.
