Milton Berle's original 1961 Emmy nomination certificate for his performance on an episode of ''The Dick Powell Show'' entitled ''Doyle Against the House.'' Called ''Mr. Television,'' Berle rose to stardom for his highly successful NBC show ''Texaco Star Theater'' based on his former radio show. At this point in Berle's career, he was expanding his television and film roles and acting in numerous performances onscreen including ''The Dick Powell Show.'' Certificate reads: ''The National Academy / of / Television Arts and Sciences / Presents this Certificate to / Milton Berle / 'Doyle Against the House' / Dick Powell Show / NBC / in Recognition of / Nomination / for the / Outstanding Single Performance / by an Actor in a Leading Role / For the Awards Period / April 1961 to April 1962.'' Certificate is signed by Robert Levine as then president of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. 9'' x 11'' certificate is inlaid in a wooden plaque with gilt trim and a high-gloss finish. Also includes a small plaque awarded to Berle for serving as a presenter during the 1958 Emmy ceremony. Near fine. From the Milton Berle estate.
