Legendary opera singer Enrico Caruso hand-drawn pair of caricature sketches. Portraits in black and red pencil are representations of Caruso's contemporary Pol Plancon, the famed operatic bass from France. Portrait on the right replicates Plancon's face with red shading to his beard and mustache. Image on the left is a highly stylized figure with elements suggesting the face of Plancon beside it. Plancon was renowned for his vocal quality and precision and, with Caruso, was among the earliest vocal artists to pioneer recorded music. Rendered on a single sheet of Plaza Hotel Buenos Aires stationery, viewable area measures 10.5'' x 6.75''. Matted in white to an overall size of 14.5'' x 10.5''. Toning and creasing to stationery, else near fine.
