Harry Truman typed letter signed as President. Upon White House stationery, Truman responds to Rabbi Samuel Thurman of the United Hebrew Congregation in St. Louis, Missouri. Letter, dated 12 November 1948 reads in full: ''Your letter has touched me deeply. I shall, of course, need the cooperation of all our people in meeting the responsibilities which they have entrusted to me, and I am especially grateful to you for expressing your thoughts in the way you did. My very best wishes to you. Very sincerely yours, [signed] Harry Truman''. Single-page letter is matted opposite a photo of Truman and framed to an overall size of 18.25'' x 14.5''. Viewable area of the letter measures 6.5'' x 8.25''. Letter is near fine. Minor chipping to frame, else fine.
