Thomas Jefferson dinner invitation addressed to the Honorable General Robert Brown of Pennsylvania, possibly in Jefferson's own hand. Partially printed invitation reads in full, ''Th: Jefferson requests the favor of The Honorable Genl. Brown to dine with him 'on Wednesday the 23rd inst at half after three, or at whatever later hour the house may rise. The favor of an answer is asked''. Envelope is addressed by hand and reads, ''The Honorable Genl. Brown of Pennsylvania''. Invitation measures 8'' x 5'' with two horizontal folds and tape residue to verso, as well as toning throughout. 5'' x 3'' envelope is splitting along folds, and also has pencil markings in two spots. Very good overall.
