Bronze medal depicting Felix Dzerzhinsky, the Polish-Russian who founded the Soviet secret police. Dzerzhinsky, better known as ''Iron Felix,'' was a prominent member of both the Polish and Russian revolutionary movements. He founded the ''Cheka,'' the Soviet State Security forces, a precursor to the KGB, that led the infamous Red Terror. He was posthumously lauded under Stalinist propaganda as a patriotic and model Soviet. Front of medal depicts Dzerhinsky posing in profile with ''1877 / 1977'' engraved and ''W Setna Rocznice Urodzin Feliska Dzierzynskiego Wiikiego Polaka I Reqolucjonisty'' engraved to verso. Measures 2.75'' in diameter. Near fine condition.
