Dr. Seuss autograph letter signed and typed letter signed to local teacher Diddo Clark. He writes both letters on his personal stationery. The autograph letter is dated 12 March 1972, and reads in full: ''Dear Diddo: Thanx for the amazing Bert Hubbell Sculpture pic. which I do want to see in the flesh along with that House. On Apr. 9 If possible. But you know about me. I'm at present, involved in the enclosed Grolexus, which is whirlzing me fithither and may or may not set me down in La Jolla in the vicinity of the 9th. If you'll call me on the phone just prior to that time, and silence answers, I'll be in N.Y. Thanks... hopes... and... very best...Ted.'' He writes the entire letter in blue felt tip marker. 1pp. on pale blue paper measures 7'' x 10.25''. Staining to verso, creasing, and a spot of toning to lower left, else near fine. Dated 31 May, 1972, the typed letter reads in full: ''Dear Diddo, Your letter of May 29th arrived while we were packing to leave for Europe, where we are going tomorrow, so I'm afraid I am going to have to miss your third annual art show. I am sorry you will be gone before we get back, but I know we will be seeing you whenever you are up this way. In the meantime, please digest mentally the enclosed material concerning the catching of seals in West Greenland from 1862 to 1937. Also, the fascinating information concerning the Glatz family. Great luck in Sonora. We will be seeing you. Best, [Signed in red crayon] Ted''. Dr. Seuss was an advocate of environmental protection. 1pp. Creasing and ink notation to verso, else fine condition. A typed letter from his secretary on his personal stationery is also included.
