General Curtis LeMay typed letter signed, dated 3 September 1959 on Department of the Air Force letterhead. Then Air Force Vice Chief of Staff, LeMay writes to Colonel Nuthall about setting up a racing team. The 8'' x 10.25'' letter reads in part, ''...We generated a considerable amount of interest that we were unable to support financially...The operation must be self-sustaining...[signed] Curtis LeMay''. The General is best remembered for stating that we would bomb Vietnam ''back to the Stone Age'' lest they ''stop their aggression.'' Near fine.
