Civil War railroad pass, partially-printed and filled out in elegant cursive. Print to the left edge calls it a ''Citizen's Pass'', and the heading is labeled ''Head-Quarters Department of the Cumberland''. Datelined Atlanta, Georgia, 16 September 1864, the pass is signed by Lt. H.M. Duffield as assistant Provost Marshall General and member of the 9th Michigan Infantry. Pass permits ''Jesse Holland wife five children & two servants to His Home 6/Six miles from Dalton There to remain.'' Marked ''Good for Six Days'', pass is numbered 1528 in red ink. Measures 7.25'' x 3.25''. Toning and creasing, overall very good.
