He inscribes the front free endpaper, ''To Norman Rushton / With the sincere regards / of Herbert Hoover''. The publisher's ''A'' is present on the copyright page. Hoover embarked on a speaking tour across the nation after his defeat to FDR in 1932. The eloquent speeches transcribed here on the gold standard, the economy and American society begin with ''The Consequences of The Proposed New Deal.'' Runs 390pp. Bound in deep blue cloth boards with gilt lettering. Measures 6'' x 8.5''. Near fine.
