Department of Justice letter discussing Al Capone's time in prison, dated 7 November 1930. Letter is written and signed by Supervisor of Paroles Courtland Butler, who interacted with Capone on a daily basis. Letter declines a friend's request to see if Butler can get an autograph from Capone or knows his whereabouts and reads in part, ''...I found him to be a perfect gentleman and way above the average inmate. Confidentially, I believe he is somewhere in Chicago...'' Letter, measuring 8.5'' x 11'' has toning throughout, otherwise very good.
