Sir John Barrow, Secretary of the British Admiralty, signs this letter to Rear Admiral Sir G.E. Hamond dated 9 March 1836. Partly printed letter reads in part, ''...I have received and laid before my lords Commissioners of the Admiralty your letters of last year numbered from 248 to 252...John Barrow''. Barrow, a great Arctic promoter, has Point Barrow and the town of Barrow, Alaska named in his honor. Card style letter measures 8'' x 12.5'' with expected toning and slight chipping to bottom left corner, else near fine condition.
