Confederate General Joseph Wheeler autograph letter signed as a Congressman. After the Civil War, Wheeler became a lawyer and was elected to the House of Representatives for Alabama. His letter on his personal Representative stationery is addressed to fellow House member Miles Tobey Granger. Dated 26 January 1889, it reads in part: ''...thank you for the wonderfully significant information you give regarding the decline of the whaling shipping...Jos Wheeler''. 1pp. measures 7.75'' x 10''. Ink notations about Wheeler to verso on most of center panel. Toning and creasing with a very light touch of foxing. Very good.
