Garth Williams' preliminary drawing for an early scene in E.B. White's 1952 children's book ''Charlotte's Web.'' Pencil illustration shows Fern trying to keep her father from using an ax to kill Wilbur the pig, who would become her pet. The 8.5'' x 11'' drawing, initialed ''GW'' on the lower right corner and numbered ''3.16335'' on the verso, is in near fine condition.
