Stephen King signed copy of "The Stand," Doubleday & Co.: Garden State: 1978. The horror author adds his autograph inscription in blue felt tip to the front free endpaper: "For Marguerite - / Hope you enjoyed / this tale of love and honor / beyond the end of the / world. / Best, / Stephen King / 5/2/80." With "Carrie," "Salem's Lot" and "The Shining" under his belt, King wrote this novel, his fourth, as a fantasy epic, set in a post-apocalyptic southwestern United States. Runs 823pp. and measures 6" x 8.5". Book club edition is bound in manila paper boards with a black leather spine and gilt lettering. Foxing to top edge and very mild toning to leaves, else near fine. With very good dustjacket.
