William Howard Taft signs: ''Wm Taft'' as Chief Justice in black ink to a letter typed on Supreme Court stationery dated 7 November 1923. Addressed to his friend Edward Bok, letter reads, ''...I enclose herewith a letter and enclosure, which should have been sent to you. The profundity of the suggestion does not appeal to me, but I pass it on...'' The suggestion to which he refers is unknown. Measures 8'' x 10.5''. Moderate uniform toning, more pronounced along the lower edge. Chipping to top edge. Very good condition.
