Press kit for the JFK Welcome Dinner slated for the evening of 22 November 1963 in Austin, Texas. The guest of honor was fatally shot before his motorcade ever brought him to his party. Sadly all for naught, each 1-2pp. typed press release in the kit supplies the media with news pertaining to Kennedy's visit and promotes the sale of tickets to the dinner. One release serves as a who's-who of the guest list, and others cover such specifics as the menu and dress code. The President's motorcade line-up is furnished as well. A total of 18 original sheets are housed within a white pocket folder printed starkly in black, ''Texas Welcome Dinner / Press Kit'', with an E. Pluribus Unum seal printed at the top. The press releases all measure either 8.5'' x 11'' or 8.5'' x 14''. All releases are in near fine to fine condition. Folder measures 9'' x 14''. Rust to staples on the pockets and creasing to left pocket, else near fine. Memo measures 8.5'' x 11''. Fine. Bittersweet evidence of the great anticipation surrounding the beloved President's fateful tour of Texas.
