Andrew Jackson land grant signed ''Andrew Jackson'' in large script as President, dated 4 January 1831. Here, Jackson grants 80 acres of land to an Elizabeth Jones in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, shortly after the Indian Removal Act of 1830 which precipitated the Trail of Tears that removed Native-Americans from their homes. Countersigned by General Land Office Commissioner, Elijah Hayward. With original blindstamped seal intact, though peeling. Vellum document measures 15.75'' x 9.75'' with various pinholes and small mouse bites, though not affecting Jackson's signature. Five horizontal folds. Very good.
