Four 5.5'' x 3.5'' semi-matte photos from the liberation of the Ohrdruf concentration camp, part of Buchenwald, the largest camp in Germany. Original period photos are annotated on the verso by the soldier who captured the images, showing dead inmates and grave digging. Annotations read: ''Charred remains of victims are surveyed with horror and disgust by G.I.'' ''These Poles, Jews, Russians etc. were shot in the camp streets to prevent their liberation by U.S. Troops a short distance away...'' Photos are well-kept, near fine condition.
