Six WWII typed letters signed by various military generals, including General MacArthur, regarding a soldier killed in action. With condolences offered to the soldier's wife from military leaders including: Lieutenant Colonel George G. Henson, Capt. Daniel E. Power, Commander John T. West, Congresswoman Frances Bolton, Major General James L. Collins, and General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, with his 10 August 1945 letter reading in part: ''...your husband, Private First Class Anthony B. Gelardi, Jr., has laid down his life for his country. I am immeasurably distressed by his untimely death...'' Letters generally measure 8'' x 11'' with minor toning and folds throughout. Very good overall.
