Jim Morrison notarized legal document from 1970, appealing Morrison's arrest and guilty verdict in Dade County, Florida for profanity and lewd conduct, originating from The Doors' 1969 concert where Morrison allegedly swore and exposed himself. With morality laws more stringent at the time, Morrison was found guilty of the charges in September 1970, and sentenced to six months in jail. However, while on appeal, Morrison famously fled to France and was found dead in his Paris apartment in 1971.

This document is from the actual appeal, signed by Morrison's lawyers, Max Fink and Robert C. Josefsberg, dated 30 October 1970 and notarized by the Circuit Court of Dade County. It reads in part, ''THE STATE OF FLORIDA Plaintiff -vs- JAMES MORRISON Defendant / The defendant, JAMES MORRISON...takes and enters his appeal...to review the Judgement and Sentence of the Criminal Court of Record in and for Dade County, Florida...'' Document measures approximately 8.25'' x 13.25'', double matted and framed with a photo of Morrison's mug shot to a size of 22'' x 19''. Near fine condition.
