FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover Typed Wartime Letter Signed 1943

Longtime FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover signed wartime letter dated 19 August 1943. Hoover rejects an invitation to The New York Publishers Association, "…It is with sincere regret that the press of my war duties will prevent the possibility of this pleasure for me…[signed] J. E. Hoover". During World War II in 1943, Hoover initiated the now infamous transatlantic intelligence collaboration, the Venona Project. Document on FBI letterhead measures 7" x 9". Near fine condition.
