Invitation to King George IV's coronation ceremony, held 19 July 1821 at Westminster Abbey. George had already been serving as Prince Regent in his father's stead for a decade before he was ultimately crowned King himself. Invitation, numbered 2862 is to the ''Abbey''. Features an etched vignette in black and blue surrounded by an embossed border featuring a design of thistles, shamrocks and Tudor Rose. Invitation is addressed by hand at lower left to one Rev. WF Bayley, North Door Vaultings Box No. 27 & 28. Signed on the border, ''Effingham''. Measures 10.5'' x 9''. Page features an integral blank. Light soiling and separation to folds along the bottom edge, else near fine given age.
