Hunter S. Thompson autograph letter signed, composed on a postcard to his friend Paul Semonin. Dated 26 April and postmarked 1966 from San Francisco, Thompson mentions working on his novel "The Rum Diary", and promising to help Semonin by calling Robert Scheer at "Ramparts" magazine about Semonin's manuscript. Letter reads in full, "Had to cancel the trip - broke again + no confirmed reservations on your end. Are you there? Did you get the $200? [mutual friend Eugene] McGarr is in LA - here last weekend + maybe next. Now to work on Rum Diary. When are you - ah - I see your card. My fault. No order here. I'll call [Robert] Scheer + find out. Letter soon. What of your Aspen house? Write - H." Postcard measures 5.5" x 3.25". In very good condition with moderate soiling.
