Hunter S. Thompson Autograph Letter Signed -- "…I'm beginning to think you are in Jail?…"

Hunter S. Thompson autograph letter signed, written on the verso of a postcard showing a Pan Am plane in flight. Appropriately, Thompson writes that he's "in condition to travel", writing to his friend Paul Semonin. Card is postmarked 24 July 1961 from Monterrey, California, reading in full, "Just sold B.S. [Big Sur] photos for $140. Am in condition to travel, but will not consider it unless you make the return trip with me. Are you working every day? Night? What are your plans? I'm beginning to think you are in Jail? Why the silence? H". Postcard measures 6.75" x 3.25". Some creasing, very good condition.
