Gus Grissom's personally owned leather flight bomber jacket with shearling collar, worn by the Apollo 1 astronaut during his years at NASA after his selection in Astronaut Group 1, the Mercury 7. Brown leather jacket is G-1 style, made by Irvin B. Foster Sportswear Co. and requisitioned by the U.S. Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons. Size 38, with measurements as follows: 26'' long from collar to bottom of jacket (excluding shearling); 23.5'' long from shoulder seam to bottom of sleeve (including knit ribbing); 19'' across when zipped. Minor wear, overall in very good plus condition. With an LOA from Gus Grissom's son.
