George IV document signed as Prince Regent. His father, King George III suffered from mental illness, caused from arsenic poisoning, on the last decade of his reign and George IV ruled in his stead. The document is dated 21 March 1819, the year before George III's death and George IV's accession in his own right. Here, a patent is secured for Joseph Weatherby Philipson of Birmingham, Warwick, inventor of an improvement in manufacturing tubes or conductors for gas. 3pp. on card-style stationery measures 8'' x 12.5''. Light soiling and some separation at fold intersections, else near fine.
