Military commission pass to the trial of the Abraham Lincoln assassination conspirators, signed by Major General David Hunter as President of the commission. Featuring large and bold signature by Hunter, with ''President of the Commission'' printed underneath his signature and ''Washington 1865'' at top. Undated, but circa May-June 1865 during the trial, which allowed limited access by the public.
At this military tribunal, eight conspirators were tried: David Herold, George Atzerodt, Lewis Powell, Mary Surratt, Samuel Arnold, Samuel Mudd, Michael O'Laughlen and Edman Spangler, all of whom were found guilty. Four were subsequently executed and others served prison sentences. Pass measures 3.25'' x 2''. Near fine condition.
