Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso hand-drawn caricature of Pietro Mascagni, opera composer and frontrunner of the Verismo art movement. Caruso's signature role was from ''Pagliacci,'' the opera often paired with Mascagni's classic, ''Cavalleria Rusticana''. Caruso's distinctive drawing style is evident in this ink and watercolor sketch, done upon Buenos Aires opera house Teatro Colon stationery.
