Primetime Emmy awarded to television director Lamont Johnson for his 1988 NBC miniseries, ''Gore Vidal's Lincoln.'' Based on the original book by Vidal, the critically acclaimed miniseries starred actors Sam Waterston and Mary Tyler Moore. As the most prestigious award in television bestowed by the National Academy of Television Arts And Sciences, statuette depicts the iconic winged woman holding an atom, symbolizing the relationship between art and science intrinsic to television. Plaque along base is engraved: ''1987-1988 Primetime Emmy Awards / Outstanding Directing in a Miniseries / Or a Special / Lamont Johnson / Gore Vidal's Lincoln / March 27, 1987 [sic] March 28, 1988 / NBC''. Measures 15.5'' in height. Minor tarnishing in a couple spots, else near fine.
