Canary breeder and violent criminal, the ''Bird Man of Alcatraz'' Robert Stroud autograph letter signed. The 29 June 1944 dateline bears an Alcatraz prison address. Stroud's letter to Fred E. Daw reads, ''...Storrs Laboratory has devoted...probably a half million dollars to the study of this disease without finding out as much about it as I have...on the hatchability of eggs...Bob Robert Stroud''. Some content is underlined with purple colored pencil. 2pp. letter on a single sheet measures 8'' x 10.5''. A few small stains, else near fine.
