Johnny Cash signed concert poster for a show in Appleton, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 22, 1959, although the year is a source of dispute, with Cash mistakenly remembering it as 1957. On the back of the poster Cash writes in full, ''Dance Hall in Appelton [sic] Wisconsin / Not in 1959. In 1957. Marshall, Luther and I came into Appelton in my first new Cadillac which I bought that day in Minneapolis. / J.R. Cash''. On the front of the poster someone wrote 1959 in felt-tip, which is the year Cash was referring to. However, the date of 22 August occurred in 1959, not 1957, so Cash is likely either misremembering when he bought his Cadillac, or where he played the night he bought it.
