Steinbeck inscribes this copy to Emilio Fernandez, the famed Mexican director and actor who directed ''The Pearl'', the cinematic adaptation of Hemingway's novella, with the screenplay written by both men. Fernandez is even said to be the model for the famous Oscar statuette. Steinbeck writes upon the front free endpaper, ''For Emilio (Kekupao) Fernandez / in hope that / we will have more grapes than wrath / John Steinbeck''. Chipped and toned dust jacket is in very good condition. Book itself is near fine.
