Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed as Lt. General to his wife Mamie in Washington, DC, circa 1942. His charming and personal letter to her reads in part: ''Darling, I'm waiting on a man who is late for an appointment. A few minutes should be mine to do with as I please. Made a long inspection trip today. Saw Bob Littlejohn - Rumlough - Adam Richmond - JCH Lee - & others. Got back here at 5:45 to find plenty to do. Now - 6:15 I'm waiting on a man who was due here 10 minutes ago. If it were wise (& permissible) to talk of business - work - & the ideas that fill my head all day long, I suspect I could send you much interesting reading. As it is I find myself trying to write everything except what is actually in my mind...Ike''. Runs 2pp. and measures 6'' x 9''. Creasing, else near fine. Lot includes original free franked mailing envelope.
