Stunning Miss America crown from the early 21st century, complete with ''official M.A.O.'' (Miss America Organization) engraving upon the interior of the sterling silver crown. Crown was awarded to a woman who won a state pageant, which ushered her into the national competition. The classic beauty pageant began in 1921 and has since provided millions in scholarships to young women. This crown was manufactured by K.A. Concepts exclusively for the Miss America Organization and comes in its original wooden case; four-point crown is made of hundreds of Swarovsky crystals, and measures 4'' in diameter at the base, and 2.25'' high. In very good condition, with all stones present. Walnut wood case with applied Miss America insignia features a leather strap handle and opens with a hinged lid to an interior luxuriously lined in red padded fabric. A hand-sewn red felt cushion displays the crown elegantly in the near fine case. Underside of case bears the label of Miss America crown-maker William Schoppy. Measures 6.75'' wide, 5'' tall and 7'' deep. A scarce and glamorous piece of Americana.
