William Faulkner Signed A Fable 1954 Limited Edition
William Cuthbert Faulkner (September 25, 1897 – July 6, 1962) was an American writer who is primarily known for his novels and short stories which are set in the fictional Yoknapatawpha County, based on Lafayette County, Mississippi, where he spent most of his life. In general, Faulkner is considered one of the most celebrated writers of American literature and specifically, he is considered one of the best writers of Southern literature. A Fable is a 1954 novel written by the American author William Faulkner. He spent more than a decade and tremendous effort on it, and aspired for it to be “the best work of my life and maybe of my time”. It won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. Historically, it can be seen as a precursor to Joseph Heller’s Catch-22.
William Faulkner signed first edition of “A Fable”, limited to 1,000 signed copies. New York: Random House, 1954. Book is in beautiful, near fine condition, still in its original acetate wraps which are lightly chipped at edges. Measures 6″ x 9″. Copy is further housed in the original slipcase, which has some discoloration along edges and spine, and a red stamp on bottom edge, in very good condition. Sold for $926.
