Sal Buscema (born Silvio Buscema, January 26, 1936) is an American comics artist, primarily for Marvel Comics, where he enjoyed a ten-year run as artist of The Incredible Hulk. He is the younger brother of comics artist John Buscema.

Sal Buscema Marvel Tales Starring Spider Man Artwork

Cover art by Sal Buscema for the September 1972 issue of “Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man!” In this issue (Vol. 2, #37), a reprint of the September 1967 edition, Spider-Man saves himself and J. Jonah Jameson after being left to drown in the Kingpin’s cellar. Bold and complex art measures 11.5″ x 16″ on Marvel illustration board. Dialogue bubbles and titling glued on. Some creasing and chipping to margins, but art itself is very good to near fine. Accompanied by published comic book. An excellent example of Spider-Man cover art. Sold for $12,600.

Sal Buscema & Joe Sinnott Original Artwork

Amazing original artwork by Sal Buscema and Joe Sinnott of the Marvel Superhero universe, done by the artists in the early 1990s for the Marvel Super Hero Island then in development. Fifteen Marvel characters are featured here, including The Hulk, the original Wolverine, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, The Thing, Machine Man, Storm, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Son of Satan, Moon Knight, Deathlok, Warlock, Man-Thing and Night Crawler. Signed by both Buscema and Sinnott at bottom right, and completed on artist paper measuring 14.375″ x 14.25″. Small spot of abrasion at lower left margin and folds at top and bottom margins. Image portion remains near fine. Sold for $4,000.

Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger Original Marvel Artwork

Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger original artwork from “Marvel Two-In-One Presents The Thing and Captain America”, #42 published in 1978, with pencilling by Buscema and inking by Grainger. Six-panel artwork is from page 27, showing the two superheroes battling each other, with Captain America ultimately victorious but The Thing gracious in defeat. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board, artwork measures 10.5″ x 16″, with panel four taped to board. With Marvel copyright stamp on verso. Very good to near fine condition. An excellent example from the beloved Bronze Age of comic books. Sold for $1,250.
