Large “Star Wars” Mirrored Artwork From 1977 — The Only One Produced as a Prototype
Star Wars (retroactively titled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope) is a 1977 American epic space-opera film written and directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew. It is the first installment of the original Star Wars trilogy, the first of the franchise to be produced, and the fourth episode of the “Skywalker saga”.
Prototype of “Star Wars” mirrored artwork, made in 1977 as merchandising for the film. This piece is one-of-a-kind, as the prototype was never approved for mass marketing. Large mirror features Darth Vader along with R2D2 and CP3O, framed to an overall size of 38.25″ x 30.25″. Printing along bottom reads, “Hand Produced by Cosalt Exports Ltd” and “Copyright 1977 Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation All Rights Reserved”. Some foxing to mirror and small dents to stainless steel frame, otherwise near fine condition. From the collection of former 20th Century Fox executive Peter Beale. Sold for $3,190.
