Huey Pierce Long Jr. (August 30, 1893 – September 10, 1935), nicknamed “The Kingfish,” was an American politician who served as the 40th governor of Louisiana from 1928 to 1932 and was a member of the United States Senate from 1932 until his assassination in 1935. As the political leader of Louisiana, he commanded wide networks of supporters and was willing to take forceful and dictatorial action. He established the long-term political dominance and dynasty of the Long family.

Huey Long ”Every Man a King” Signed First Edition From 1933 — Long’s Populist Manifesto

Huey Long’s ”Every Man a King” signed first edition, published by National Book Co., Inc.: New Orleans: 1933. Long’s autograph inscription to the front free endpaper reads, ”To Hon. Robert Robins / Best wishes, / Huey Long, / U.S.S. [United States Senator]”. Runs 343pp. Bound in orange cloth boards with red and black print lettering. Measures 5.5” x 8.25”. Minor cocking to spine, shelf wear and pencil notations to rear free endpaper. Very good overall. Sold for $938.

John F. Kennedy Signed ”Profiles in Courage” — Inscribed to Famed Photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt

John F. Kennedy signed copy of ”Profiles in Courage”, inscribed to famed photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt, who photographed Kennedy on many occasions during the 1960 Presidential campaign and as President. JFK signs the front free endpaper, ”To Alfred Eisenstaedt / with every good wish / John Kennedy”. New York: Harper & Bros., 1956. Measures 6” x 8.5”. Housed in original unclipped dust jacket, showing price of $3.50. In very good condition with chipping to top edge of jacket. Light wear to book, otherwise near fine. From Alfred Eisenstaedt’s estate and with University Archives COA. Sold for $5,500.

Harvey Milk Autograph Letter Signed Re: Briggs 1978

1978 Harvey Milk autograph letter signed regarding the Briggs Initiative which Milk fought so fiercely against in the months before his assassination. Composed on “Harvey Milk / Board of Supervisors” stationery, letter reads in part, “Sunday / J.R. – Thank you for your note…against Briggs – it went to The United Fund Against Briggs – again all I can say is thanks – Warmly / Harvey.” Accompanied by Milk handwritten cover postmarked 5 September 1978. Letter measures 6.5″ x 8; cover measures 7.5″ x 4″. Excellent condition. Sold for $1,182.

Robert Kennedy Signed 10” x 12” Photo & Letter Signed, With Additional Autograph Note Signed — From November 1964 After He Won Election as New York Senator

Lot of Robert Kennedy signed items: (1) 10” x 12” matte photo signed to U.S. Attorney Thomas Sheridan. Inscribed by RFK on the photograph border, ”For Tom, With appreciation and the high regard of his friend / Bob Kennedy”. Crease to upper right corner, else near fine. (2) Typed letter signed ”Bob” to U.S. Attorney Thomas Sheridan, thanking him for his good wishes. Letter on Kennedy’s personal stationery is dated 27 November 1964, shortly after the one-year anniversary of JFK’s death, and also not long after RFK was elected as U.S. Senator from New York. The letter is additionally hand-annotated by Kennedy, who adds the following note, ”My thanks and best wishes to you / Bob”. Letter measures 8.5” x 11”. Light creasing and foxing, overall very good condition. Sold for $1,099.
