MARGARET THATCHER PERSONALLY OWNED CHRISTMAS PLATE, MADE OF PORCELAIN CHINA, DATED 1983

Margaret Thatcher, was a British stateswoman who served as prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British prime minister of the 20th century and the first woman to hold that office. A Soviet journalist dubbed her “The Iron Lady”, a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies known as Thatcherism. Margaret Thatcher personally owned Christmas plate featuring a scene in Trafalgar Square, with “Christmas” at top and “1983” at bottom in gilt, from her time as Prime Minister. Border is moulded with a design of Christmas trees and holly. Bone china has printed factory marks from Coalport to underside. Measures 9″ in diameter. Near fine condition. The first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and also its longest serving in the 20th century, Thatcher here indeed earns the title of Iron Lady, in her own words: ”I stand before you…my face softly made up and my fair hair gently waved, the Iron Lady of the Western world.” Matte photo bears Donovan’s copyright stamp to verso. Minute buckling and edgewear, overall near fine condition. Sold for $1,875.

Holy Bible personally owned by Margaret Thatcher, with gilt embossing bearing her name. Bible was presented to Thatcher by the Bible Pathway Ministries on 25 July 1989, during her Prime Ministership, and features gilt embossing to front cover reading ”The Right Honorable Margaret Thatcher, M.P.” Softcover Bible additionally has gilt lettering to spine, with all edges gilt. Margaret Thatcher personally owned evening bag, a black grosgrain clutch with paste jeweled button, and rope strap.
